Hazel and Rose Circa Now
Hazel and Rose is a local shop (located in Northeast Minneapolis) with a goal of creating a space for ethical and sustainable brands to thrive. Started in 2016, the owners Emma Olson and Bobbi Barron have three main expectations of the clothing that will be shown in their store:
1) Does it have lasting power? In other words, is it of good enough quality that it could last in someone's wardrobe for a significant amount of time?
2) Does it lessen environmental impact/Is it sustainable?
3) Is it made ethically?
After adding in unique, vintage finds this fall, Hazel and Rose decided to focus the theme of this year's Circa Now show on vintage meeting contemporary.
Like the Innovations Show that I spoke about in my last post (see here), this show was broken up into multiple segments, which made for a fun-filled event. Taking place at Able Seedhouse and Brewery, it included multiple curators from around the Twin Cities who not only showcased their favorite looks on the runway, but also spoke on a panel after about their experiences and where they see slow fashion going in the future. The final segment of the show was a pop up shop for their brands, as well as Minnesota Nice Cream.
The curators for the show were: Arc's Value Village, Arlee Park, The Golden Pearl, The Keep, Moth Oddities, Tandem Vintage (See below for their looks)
Thank you to Hazel and Rose for asking me to be the main influencer for this event. I met many great people, had some great beer and really enjoyed seeing these bright, vintage pieces get a second life.
